History

Lydia dePolo and Jack Dunbar previously had headed the interior design department for Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill. During their years at SOM, they supported the architecture group by providing creative interior design solutions for a variety of clients with space requirements ranging from 20,000 to 500,000 square feet. Their approach to assisting the architecture group by designing the building's interior to shape the exterior architecture was the key to their success.

Frank Loffredo and Steven Brooks, having joined the firm in the early 80's, became part of their core team and assisted them in providing all services required in interior design. As a trained architect, Mr. Loffredo provided the firm with leadership in the management and construction of projects. As a trained industrial designer, Mr. Brooks provided leadership in interior design as well as furniture and product design unique to each client's interior vision. The success of the firm can be attributed to its ability to provide the same design, management capabilities, and leadership equivalent to a large firm, with a more focused and direct approach.

Mr. Loffredo and Mr. Brooks became sole partners of LB Architects in 1989 after Mr. Dunbar and Ms. dePolo's retirements. Together with a group of professionals including architects and designers, they continue the philosophy, quality and leadership of the firm's roots.
