INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE SECOND 100 INTERIOR DESIGN GIANTS 2003, 2004, 2005
Loffredo Brooks Architects has joined Interior Design Magazine's list of top design firms in the nation. Making the list requires the qualification of actual fee billing for all types of projects, including Loffredo Brooks Architects' key areas of work for corporate office design, hospitality, retail, showrooms, residential, government, museum and gallery.
2004 STARNET DESIGN AWARD
City Hall Academy - New York, New York
The StarNet Design Award is given in recognition of creative and innovative floorcovering use in commercial interior design projects. Loffredo Brooks Architects' design for the City Hall Academy, in the historic New York City Tweed Courthouse won the 1st place prize in the Education Category and also won the Grand Prize for the competition. Each classroom at the Academy is designated for specific subjects relating to New York City, including Architecture and Urban Planning, History, Literature, Fine Arts, Economics, and Math and Science. Part of Loffredo Brooks' goal was to create a flooring design that would be part of the learning and teaching experience and reflect the themes of the classrooms. The product itself also needed to make a statement about renewable and reusable resources. Finally, durability, maintenance, and resiliency had to be inherent in the material.
Rubber flooring was the ultimate solution for the team. The product was made from recycled tires and can be recycled after its use, meeting the goal of sustainability. The manufacturer made the customizing of the product simple. Even the implementation of a detailed New York City Neighborhood map for the Architecture and Urban Planning Room was achieved with ease. The rubber floor is softer than a standard vinyl tile, is long lasting, and cleans up quickly.
The use of this product exceeded the Starnet criteria and illustrated a "perfect blend of inspiration and application."
